Nobel Prize Cash and Philanthropy

Ralph Bunche, was living with his wife and three children in a rather small home. Around 1952 he used the Nobel Prize money to buy a bigger and comfortable house from Sturm in Kew Gardens, Queens, New York. He lived in the house until his death in 1971. The house is listed as a National Historic Landmark by the US National Park Service. Ralph Bunche was the very first African in the world to be awarded the Noble Prize in any category.
