Gerhard Domagk was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1939. Adolf Hitler’s Nazi German policy forbade citizens from accepting the Nobel Prize. As per the regulations of the Nobel Foundation, the prize money was reverted to the funds of the foundation.
After the war was over, in 1947, Domagk accepted the prize. He was awarded only the Nobel Medal and the Nobel Prize Diploma. He did not receive the Nobel Prize money.
