Nelson Mandela’s Nobel co-recipient was President Frederik Willem de Klerk who released him from prison. They had agreed to transitioning to majority rule peacefully.

  1. Nelson Mandela founded Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. He donated a third of his presidential salary to the Fund. It strives to change the way society treats its children and youth. This long-term vision captures the central role society plays in shaping children’s lives. Its mission is to give voice and dignity to the African child by building a rights-based movement
  2. In 2003, Mandela founded the Mandela Rhodes Foundation in partnership with the Rhodes Trust. Its mission is to build exceptional leadership capacity in Africa. It finds, funds and empowers young Africans who aspire towards the kind of leadership he embodied: leaders who can bridge historic divides and who use their talents for the betterment of their societies and his continent.
