Biography
Though widely acknowledged as an outstanding researcher, teacher, and mentor, Nathans was also an able administrator–thoughtful, fair, deliberate, and clearheaded. One colleague noted that Nathans had “the highest signal-to-noise ratio of anyone” he’d ever known.
